Volunteer Appreciation House News The Volunteer Appreciation Event was a huge hit for all the guests who attended on Thursday, April 24th. Union Station was the perfect setting for the murder mystery-themed dinner. The evening was spent enjoying food, drinks and good company while recognizing all of the hard work that is done by our wonderful, dedicated volunteers! The fun-filled night ended with a raffle of over 25 baskets full of goodies. A big thank you to Mike DeCola, who donated an arcade to the West County House.
Thanks to Two Men and a Truck for donating their time to deliver the new addition to the rec room for all the families to enjoy!
Students from St. Pauls Lutheran School NJHS walked to raise money for three new ovens to be purchased for the West County House.
The Park Avenue House got a facelift outside with new porch furniture, freshly painted railings, and beautiful flowers planted all over the grounds. Items were donated by Keller Williams Realty. The railings were painted by Keller Williams, Target, The Northern Trust Company, St. John Vianney High School and the St Louis Rams.
Johnathan Brooks is a new housekeeper at the Park Avenue House. He has enjoyed meeting so many great people through working with the staff, volunteers and families.
Noelle Perkowski has been the West Pine House Parent for 3 years. This summer she has been given the opportunity to go help our Northern California chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities. They offer a summer camp called Camp Ronald McDonald at Eagle Lake that is a fully accessible, residential summer camp for children who are at-risk with a variety of special medical needs, economic hardship and/or emotional, developmental or physical disabilities. She will be a food service intern working under the camp dietitian helping with menu planning, specialty diets, nutritional education, and cooking. She is currently in the dietetic program at SLU, so this experience is giving her the opportunity to combine her two loves: nutrition and volunteering with Ronald McDonald House Charities. This years training served as a refresher for all aspects of the position, including the McTrax computer program, giving tours to new families, dealing with different types of families, and how to make people feel the most at home. If anyone that was unable to attend the training would like the minutes of the meeting, contact Jacob McGuire at jmcguire@rmhcstl.com.
1st Quarter Volunteers Between the three Family Rooms, we were fortunate enough to add 19 wonderful new volunteers during the 2014 1 st Quarter! We are happy to have them all on board!
A big thank you to the students at Highcroft Ridge Elementary School. They had a drive for RMHC and were able to collect several boxes of toiletries and snacks for the Family Room! The entire staff has come together to create a list of the values that we find most important. As a result we are proud to present these Core Values that define us as an organization. The Core Values, the heart of Ronald McDonald House Charities, have been developed to define the principles that both the staff and volunteers strive to pursue through their work with each visitor that enters our doors. In the coming months we will be integrating these Core Values into every aspect of life at RMHC. Look for the Core Values on our stationary, emails, signage and decor around the house. Most importantly look for the Core Values to be reflected in the actions of all staff, committee members and volunteers as we strive to create a home-away-from-home. Come join our volunteer team!
