Homework ?

We know that many of you have been wondering about the homework for our
class. The only homework we ask everyone to complete each night is reading - it is one of the best things
you can do to help your childs learning and even a few minutes a day can have a big impact. Please find
the attached list of Kindergarten Word Wall words that you can review when you have some time. With
each new math unit we will also send home a few ideas for practicing the math concepts at home. We will
also be providing some letter formation and sound review work that will be entirely optional - we
understand how busy families are but we also want to provide extra practice for those who are interested.

MRS. LECUYER
&
MRS. CARON
Dear Families,
It is hard to believe that our
rst month of Full Day
Kindergarten is already over! We
have had a great month getting
to know each other and the
students have settled into our
routines nicely - it is amazing how
much we have learned in such a
short time!
It was great to see so many
families at the Open House and
we thank you for taking the
time visit our classroom and
connect with us.
The month of October is
shaping up to be a busy one and
we have lots of exploration and
learning planned in room 102!
We do our best to include all
pertinant information in our class
calendar and newsletter, but last
minute items often come up (both
from our classroom and from the
school.) Please check your childs
mailbag on a daily basis to stay
informed.

but if you have any of these
items lying around your
house and if you are able/
willing to donate them - we
will put them to good use in

Pretty Papers
Any kind of decorative paper
(large or small) - scrapbooking
scraps, wall paper samples, tissue
paper, wrapping paper etc - we
have a very keen group of artists
this year!
Beautiful Things
Sequins, gems, ribbon, feathers,
buttons, string, decals, stickers,
colourful fabric scraps
Stationary
Our students love to explore writing
through role-play. All different types
of writing papers help us add fun
and promote student writing.
Ex. old stationary, greeting cards
(even used ones), post cards, memo
pads, note pads, envelopes etc.
kLanguage
Jolly Phonics: We are continuing to work on our
rst frieze of letters (S A T P I N). Each week we
explore the formation and sound of a new letter
through a variety of activities - books, play-
dough, manipulatives, chalk, markers, crayons,
sand, stamps etc. We also have booklets for
each letter that the students have been enjoying.
Sometimes the students do not complete the
booklets in class and we will send them home in
their mailbag. Please feel free to help your child
complete their booklet, but they do not need to
be returned to school.
kMath
We are working hard on our Data Management
unit in class. The students are learning to notice
similarities and differences between a group of
objects and then sort them into groups
accordingly. You can help reinforce these math
skills at home by having your child practice
sorting household objects. Encourage them to
explain their sorting rule to you. Counting is
another skill that can be easily practiced at home.
Encourage your son or daughter to use a nger
to point to each object as they count and to
practice writing out their numbers from 1-10.
k Remind101
Please see the attached information sheet about
Remind 101. We have recently come across this
awesome bit of technology and would like to try
it out with our class this year. Remind 101 is an
app that will allow us to send out class and school
reminders to parents via one-way text message or
email. All personal information is kept
confidential - we will never see your phone
number and you will not see ours. We hope that
the use of this app will increase communication
and be helpful to busy parents. If you are
interested - please see the attached information to
sign up.
Our First
Inquiry:
BIRDS
The students have
begun a wonderful
classroom inquiry
about birds. They
have been exploring
different types of
birds and the students
have been creating
beautiful pictures and
making interesting
obervations. Their
curiosity and
insightfulness is
amazing! We will
keep you posted as
our inquiry continues
to develop.
Library
Our school is still in the process of hiring a new technitian, but thankfully, some of
our awesome parents have donated their time and made it possible for us to begin
visiting the library this week. Our class will have the opportunity to go to the library
on Tuesdays. Students will be allowed to take home one book each week and we will
send it home in their mailbags. We ask that the book be returned the following week.
Thank you for taking good care of our library books when they come home.
Happy (Early) Thanksgiving!
We want to wish all of our students and their families a safe and happy
Thanksgiving. We hope you get to spend some quality time with loved ones.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to approach us
at anytime .
Sincerely,
Mrs. LEcuyer & Mrs. Caron

priced and you can often find really
good deals. This months order is due
