Once upon a time, like many other times, a plant in a deciduous forest began the process of

photosynthesis. The plant created a molecule of glucose by the name of Marvin. Marvin was a
very adaptable molecule and he could be converted to ATP in a process known as cellular
respiration. Marvin was relaxing in the plants cells when a caterpillar came along started eating
the plant. Marvin was transferred to the caterpillar and lost a lot of energy on his way. When
Marvin awoke in the caterpillars cells he only had 10% of his original energy.
As time went on Marvin began to adjust to his life in the caterpillar. He saw other molecules
come and go as some were used to make ATP. His life was quite boring waiting to be turned
into ATP, but the caterpillar he was residing in had made a mistake whenever he crossed into a
grassland biome. The caterpillar was quickly devoured by a bird that had spotted him in the
grass. Marvin was transferred to the bird and yet again lost a majority of his energy. He found
himself in the birds cells with only 10% of his reduced energy wondering how he would ever
escape being turned into ATP.
The bird flew for many days before flying into a different deciduous forest and resting on a
familys window. The bird was unaware as a cat crept behind him and quickly pounced. Marvin
was yet again transferred and lost another 90% of energy. Marvin realized now that his energy
was drastically low and began wondering how fast the cat would need to produce ATP when it
ate animals that lost energy when he could feel the cellular respiration beginning. Marvin was
transformed into ATP and used to power the cat like many other molecules before him.
