Course Description: In ESL 021, you will learn to:
- Appropriately express agreement and disagreement
- Express doubt and certainty in formal and informal situations
- Narrate events using past, present, and future verb forms
- Request service or help in a variety of settings
- Use comparative and superlative forms of adjectives
- Express likes and dislikes of self and others
- Describe and identify articles of clothing
- Give and follow directions in a variety of situations
- Use appropriate body language and gestures in various
situations
Grading: ESL 021 is a P/Z course. A grade of Z means no credit for the
class. A grade of P indicates that you are ready to progress to the next level of
Listening/Speaking in English. There will be homework assignments, quizzes, tests and
a fnal exam. You must receive 70% or better of the total possible points for the course
in order to pass. If you want a letter grade, notify the teacher immediately. Please note:
Only grades A-C are regarded as passing.
Attendance/Homework: Attendance at every class is very important. You may be
dropped from the class after three absences. Homework will generally be due the
following class period; it is important to stay current with your assignments in order to
get the maximum beneft from the course. Assignments will not be accepted more than
one week late.
Cell Phones: Cell phones disrupt teaching and learning; please turn of cell phones
when entering the classroom.
