PGP Admissions Policy and Procedure for the Academic Year 2015 2016

IIMK adopts a twostage selection process and accordingly these selection criteria are applied in two
stages.Thefirststageprocessappliestoalleligiblecandidates(whoappearforCAT2014andregistered
online for admission to IIMK) to determine those qualifying candidates who will be called for personal
interview(PI).
1.AllcandidatesmeetingtherequirementsmentionedinTable1areeligibleforconsiderationtothestage1
shortlisting.

**ThepercentageofmarksobtainedinClassXandClassXIIwouldbetheaggregatemarksofallsubjectsthatappearin
themarkssheetorgradesheet,irrespectiveofwhethertheBoardconsidersthemforcalculationofpercentage.

2.SSC/XandHSC/XIIpercentagesmentionedabovewillbetakenfromCAT2014registrationdatabasewhich
willbetreatedasfinal.
3.FromalltheeligiblecandidateswhoregisterwithIIMKashortlistofcandidateswillbepreparedbasedon
the Aggregate Index Score. This score is computed based on the performance in CAT 2014, Class XII and
Bachelorsdegreeperformanceandothertraitsrelevantformanagementeducation.Originals(andcopies)of
allcertificates(academics/reservationcategory/experience)mustbeproducedforverificationatthetimeof
PI.AnycandidatefailingtoproduceanyoftheoriginalcertificateswillbedisqualifiedfromattendingthePI.
TheAggregateIndexScorecalculationdetailsaregiveninthesubsequentparagraphs.
a.CATIndexScore:
PerformanceinCATisanimportantinputintheadmissionprocess.Candidatesshouldnotethatitis
important to perform well in each section of the test. Scaled Scores from both the sections (with
equalweightages)ofCAT2014willgointothecomputationoftheCATIndexScore.CATIndexScore
willcarryaweightof75%.
b.GraduationIndexScore:
i. Table 2 shows the computation of the Graduate Index Score. For those who completed their
Bachelorsdegreethepercentagemarksreportedintheirmarks/gradesheetwillbeconsidered.
ii.PercentagemarksforincompleteBachelorsdegreeapplicantsarebasedontheiravailablemarks,
certifiedbyaheadoftheinstitution.ThePrincipal/HeadoftheDepartment/Registrar/Directorofthe
university/institution has to certify that those are the latest available marks, without which the
candidatebecomeineligibleforthegraduationindexscore.
iii.ForthosecandidateshavingclearedCA/ICWAI/CSwithouthavingBachelorsdegree,theiraverage
ofintermediateandfinallevelmarkswillbetreatedasBachelorsdegreemarks.
iv.Forbachelorsdegree,thepercentageofmarksawardedbyInstitute/Universitywillbetreatedas
final.IftheInstitute/Universitydoesnotawardthepercentageofmarks,itwillbecalculatedonthe
basisofthemarksobtainedinallsubjectslistedinthemarksheet.
v. If the percentage of marks awarded by Institute/University does not take into account marks
obtainedinallthesubjectsasmentionedinthemarksheet(s)foralltheyears,thecandidatesmust
produce a certificate from the Principal/Head of the Department/Registrar/Director of the
university/institution certifying details of the practice at the time of the GD/WATPI, if shortlisted
forthesame.
vi. If any Board/Institute/University awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent
percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the
Board/Institute/University specifying the equivalent marks. The original equivalence certificate
needs to be submitted at the time of GD/WATPI, if shortlisted for the same. Obtaining the
equivalencecertificateistheresponsibilityofcandidates.
vii. For candidates having a 5year integrated Master's degree, the percentage ofmarks obtained in
thefirst3yearswillbeconsideredasbachelorsdegreepercentage.

c.HSC/ClassXIIIndexScore:
ThepercentageofmarksobtainedinHSC/ClassXIIwouldbetheaggregatemarksofallsubjects
that appear in the marks sheet or grade sheet, irrespective of whether the Board considers
them for calculation of percentage.The method of allotting score for HSC/ Class XII percentage
basedonaggregatemarksisgiveninTable3below:

d.WorkExperienceIndexScore:
Previous work/professional experience will carry a weight of up to 5% depending on the length of
serviceasonJanuary31,2015,asshowninTable4.Onlyfulltimemanagerialworkexperienceafter
graduationwillbeconsidered.Training/Projectwork/workcompletedasanintegralpartofcurricular
requirementwillnotbeconsidered.

e.DiversityIndexScore:
To ensure diversity, marks will be awarded for diversity (gender (5%) or academic discipline (5%))
related factors. Academic disciplines eligible academic diversity score are given in Table 5. A
candidateisentitledtodiversityscorefromonlyonefactor.

5. The shortlisted candidates will have to register at IIMK website and complete the personal profile form
online.Onlythosecandidateswhocompleteonlineregistrationatrelevantstageswillonlybeconsideredfor
thesubsequentprocess.
6.Inthesecondstage,theshortlistedcandidateswillhavetoappearforaGD/WATfollowedbyaPersonal
Interview(PI).ThePIprocesswilllastforahalfday(morningorafternoon)sessionwherethecandidate
willbewritingashortnoteandparticipateingroupdiscussiononatopicprovidedbyIIMK.Thetopicwill
be announced at the venue just before the GD/WAT. The topics will typically reflect current political,
economic, sports, business affairs, etc. During the interview, the panel will evaluate each candidate's
performanceonacademicbackground,qualityofworkexperienceandotherpersonaltraits.
7. After the conclusion of PI and GD/WAT, the final scores will be computed (Table 7) based on the
performanceinCAT2014,PI,GD/WAT,andqualityofprofessionalexperience.Categorywiseranklistwillbe
preparedbasedonthefinalscores.Admissionofferswillbemadetocandidatesfollowingtheranklistasper
theGovernmentofIndiareservationnorms.

Additionalinformation(thecandidatesareadvisedtoreadthemcarefully)
1.MeetingtheminimumeligibilitycriteriawillnotautomaticallyqualifyacandidateforadmissiontoIIMK.
2. Each IIM shortlistscandidates for GD/WAT and PI based on their own criteria. Hence it is possible to
observevariationsinthelistsofcandidatesshortlistedbydifferentIIMs.
3.ThecandidatesshortlistforPIwillbemadeavailableontheIIMKwebsitearoundthelastweekofJanuary
2015.OnlyshortlistedcandidateswillbereceivingemailcommunicationfromIIMK.
4. Subsequent to the GD/WAT and PI, therank list for admissions will be prepared around the first week of
May2015.Theadmissionofferletterswillbesenttotherequirednumberofcandidatesfromtheranklist,in
theorder,followingtheGovernmentofIndiareservationnorms.
5.Alimitednumberofcandidateswillbekeptinthewaitlist.Offerstothecandidatesinthewaitinglistwill
dependuponthenumberofcandidatesnotacceptingtheinitialoffersfromtheranklist.
6. The candidates are advised to check their registered emails regularly and visit the Admissions section of
IIMKswebsiteforupdatesonadmissionoffers.
7. The candidates, who are offered admission, need to confirm their acceptance by completing all the
requiredformalitieswithinthestipulatedtime.
8. If a candidate fails to confirm the admission formalities in time, for whatsoever reason, the seat will be
forfeited by him/her and the next candidate in the waiting list will get the offer. No requests will be
entertainedinthisregard.
9. IIMK reserves the right to change, modify or adopt any new admissions process to comply with any
Government requirements or that it deems necessary and which best suits its purpose of identifying and
admittingthemostappropriatecandidatestothepostgraduateprogramme.
10. IIMK does not share any responsibilities with other institutions using the merit list of IIMK for their
admissions.Nocommunicationswithanycandidateswillbeentertainedinthisregard.

Any dispute concerning Admissions during academic year 2015 would be subject to jurisdiction of the competent Courts within the
territorialjurisdictionofthecityofKozhikodeonly.
