1. Name at least 5 skills that teacher should have to be able to come up with effective board displays.
Elaborate on why each skill is needed.
To come up with effective board display, for me, is that we must have these skills like drawing,
paper cutting, designing, lettering, and cognitive skills. Drawings make our message more
understandable and attractive because most of the learners rely on what they have seen. Then paper
cutting can make symbols through cutting papers and arrange them to make a message or decoration.
Designing skills make our board more alluring and eye catching to the student. Skills in lettering are
another way of imparting message through letters, words, or sentences. And last is the cognitive, in
which we will use our planning ability on how to construct our board displays.
2. Which of the skills do you already have? Recall our pat experiences in making board displays. How do
you practice these skills?
I have learned the letter cut-out making when I have enrolled field study 3 this semester. Our
instructor conducts a mini-seminar like pertaining the letter cut-out making in which the speaker is only
our fellow classmate. When I was in high school, I and my classmates usually fixed the bulletin board of
our classroom every opening of the class. I and some of the boy in the class usually repair the board and
sometimes I help my classmates in making paper cut-outs.
3. Which skills do you still need to develop? Reflect on how you can improve on or acquire these skills?
I think most of the skills in making board display must be develop in myself because f I will
destine to be a teacher, these skills will help me in this career. My drawing, paper cutting, designing,
lettering and other skills in making board display are need improvement so that I can make an effective
board display. It is really true that I havent the skills in terms of art and designing but as a prospective
teacher, I must develop these skills. So in order for me to develop these skills, I must cooperate
whenever there will be a board display making or designing to practice those skills. And then I will ask
some people who are more knowledgeable about board display making as display my guide in making
this thing.
