ColonistswhosupportedGreatBritainspoliciesandBritishrulewereknownasLoyalists.Those
whoresistedcalledthemselvesPatriots.Whenthecoloniesdeclaredindependence,Patriots
wereopposedbymanyLoyalistsaswellasBritishtroops.
