Icebreaker Activity
What Character are You?

This activity is designed for a high school class, ranging from ages 15 to 18. The teacher
would pass out index cards to each student. On the front of the card, have them write their name,
and what they would like to be called. On the back, have them decide what character from any
movie, book, story, show, game, or anything else that best describes or represents them, and list
three reasons they choose that character. The teacher then asks around the room, and has each
student say their name, the character they choose, and the three reasons for choosing them. This
activity has each student share their interests, and a little bit about their personality as well. The
only materials needed are index cards, and markers for the students to write. This is an idea that I
based off of many other icebreaker activities that I have done in classes as a student. Ive done
many activities as a student, where the teacher has the students pick their favorite animal, or
color and share it with the class. I decided to have them pick a character, as it is more relatable to
the students than just an animal or color, and helps express some of their interests as well.
