This document provides instructions for using thermodynamic property functions for air developed by Steve McClain. It explains that users must download and reference the IGASPropsRevised file containing the functions. It lists the standard syntax for using the functions and provides examples of available functions for properties like enthalpy, pressure, entropy, temperature, internal energy, and relative volume as functions of other properties like temperature, pressure, specific volume, etc. It notes the importance of capitalization and subscripting in the functions and that appropriate units must be used.

Property Functions for Air
In order to use the functions, you must download the Mathcad file named IGASPropsRevised.xmcd and save it on your hard drive. That file is availale for download from the course !e site. In order to use the functions in your wor"sheet, you must insert a reference to the aove wor"sheet. In a Mathcad wor"sheet, clic" the Insert menu. #ear the ottom clic" Reference. $lic" %rowse and rowse to IGAS PropsRevised.xmcd and select it. Pay very close attention to the syntax of these functions. $apitali&ation and suscriptin' are critical. The standard syntax is( a)cair*,c+ where a is the output variale and and c are the input variales. #ote that ,air- is a suscript on variale c. %y the way, .r. Mc$lain, the author of these functions shares my fixation on units, so appropriate units must e used for the inputs, and the outputs already have units attached. /ooray0 1ollowin' is a list of functions that are availale for air( 2nthalpy functions h)prair*pr+ h)Tair*T+ h)vrair*vr+ Relative pressure function pr)Tair*T+ s 3 function s3)Tair*T+ Temperature functions T)hair*h+ T)prair*pr+ T)sair*s+ T)uair*u+ T)vrair*vr+ Internal ener'y functions u)prair*pr+ u)vrair*vr+ Relative volume function vr)Tair*T+
