Joseph Stalin (1949-1953)

Stalin dictated his people not only through fear, but through force. Most Westerners see Adolf
Hitler as a cold blooded murderer, but most do not realize that Stalin was responsible for
around 43,000,000 of these fatalities. However, although he killed millions of people, he is a
leader who contributed and was responsible for the Soviet Union at that point, and has made
positive impacts as well that would last though the Soviet foothold and long afterwards.
When Joseph Stalin went into power, the Soviet Unions industrial system was completely
lagged and out of date to the point where employees in the work force were using technology
which was decades out of date. While they were struggling with this, Western agriculturalists
were using the newest and best industrial equipment there was. Stalin totally and completely
improved the output of the industrial system. They went from one of the poorest and
unintelligible industrial attempters, to one of the strongest systems throughout the globe.
Another one of his impacts was that he improved the countries health care system a major
amount. He provided prenatal care for woman who werent in the gulags in the slums. In many
countries, it was not practiced any because it wasnt known as a viable option, and this action by
Stalin unlike many others, effected society in a positive way.
Joseph Stalin also affected his people through liberation of the social services, and the largest
social change in the Stalin regime was the gender equality that became (woman equality). Most
Western countries didnt see salary pay and employment opportunities right to be the same for
men and women, however under Stalins rule, its said that girls were equal education, and a
better sense of equality.
Under Stalins rule, the Soviet Union gained a huge and massive amount of territory; his Red
Army also defeated the Nazis who invaded after violating an agreement made with Hitler, and in
the process took Berlin. It is now one of the worlds two superpowers (the United States being
the other).
