Students will use an
inquiry-based approach to
their learning by building
connections between
themselves and the world
around them as it relates
to Textile studies.
Knowledge and
understanding of design,
colour theory, sewing and
construction techniques,
safety, machine parts and
patterns will take place
through the development
of their personalized
apron projects.
Students will reflect on
both their own and
classmates work
throughout the design
process. Through this
reflection they will be
better able to understand
the process of design and
make constructive
decisions on their work.
Through journal entries
and class discussion,
students will be able to
form opinions around the
purpose of textiles and
how textiles represent
culture and identity.
Students will learn to
provide constructive
feedback on their own
and others work and be
able to communicate their
design decisions through
textile art.
As students adapt to their
new secondary school
environment, they will
learn to balance their time
efficiently and work
productively both in and
out of the classroom.
Students will act with
integrity and honesty.
Students will learn about
different cultures and
how others reflect their
environment and way of
life through textiles.
Students will broaden
their understanding of
international mindedness.
Students will be
respectful and
caring of
themselves, others,
the environment
and the equipment
that surrounds
them.
Students will
approach
unfamiliar
situations and
uncertainty with
courage and
forethought.
