1. ALL this, whatsoever moves on earth, is to be hidden in the Lord (the Self).
When thou hast surrendered all this, then thou mayest enjoy. Do not covet
the wealth of any man
!. "hou#h a man may wish to live a hundred years, $erformin# wor%s, it will
be thus with him& but not in any other way' wor% will thus not clin# to a man.
(. "here are the worlds of the Asuras covered with blind dar%ness. "hose who
have destroyed their self (who $erform wor%s, without havin# arrived at a
%nowled#e of the true Self), #o after death to those worlds.
). "hat one (the Self), thou#h never stirrin#, is swifter than thou#ht. "he
Devas (senses) never reached it, it wal%ed before them. "hou#h standin# still,
it overta%es the others who are runnin#. *atarisvan (the wind, the movin#
s$irit) bestows $owers on it.
+. ,t stirs and it stirs not& it is far, and li%ewise near. ,t is inside of all this,
and it is outside of all this.
-. And he who beholds all bein#s in the Self, and the Self in all bein#s, he
never turns away from it.
.. When to a man who understands, the Self has become all thin#s, what
sorrow, what trouble can there be to him who once beheld that unity/
0. 1e (the Self) encircled all, bri#ht, incor$oreal, scatheless, without
muscles, $ure, untouched by evil & a seer, wise, omni$resent, self2e3istent,
he dis$osed all thin#s ri#htly for eternal years.
4. All who worshi$ what is not real %nowled#e (#ood wor%s), enter into blind
dar%ness ' those who deli#ht in real %nowled#e, enter, as it were, into #reater
dar%ness.
15. 6ne thin#, they say, is obtained from real %nowled#e& another, they say,
from what is not %nowled#e. "hus we have heard from the wise who tau#ht us
this.
11. 1e who %nows at the same time both %nowled#e and not2%nowled#e,
overcomes death throu#h not2%nowled#e, and obtains immortality throu#h
%nowled#e.
1!. All who worshi$ what is not the true cause, enter into blind dar%ness'
those who deli#ht in the true cause, enter, as it were, into #reater dar%ness.
1(. 6ne thin#, they say, is obtained from (%nowled#e of) the cause& another,
they say, from (%nowled#e of) what is not the cause. "hus we have heard
from the wise who tau#ht us this.
1). 1e who %nows at the same time both the cause and the destruction (the
$erishable body), overcomes death by destruction (the $erishable body), and
obtains immortality throu#h (%nowled#e of ) the true cause.
