In this project we created a virtual kaleidoscope.

To do this, we first started with getting familiar with

the program we used to create this project, GeoGebra. It is a free application you can download onto
any computer. It works with lines and shapes on graphs. To get familiar with GeoGebra, we got
handouts and had to explore it for ourselves, answering questions as we complete it. fter we weren!t
totally new with the program we started getting to work with it.

This benchmark was to sketch out in the primary region what you want your kaleidoscope would look
like. It had to have at least & shapes and at least one had to rotate and one had to translate. 'ou also had
to describe if you are doing a two or three mirror design. The three mirror just has more constraints.

This benchmark we had to put the objects onto the program and get them to the colors we wanted them
to be. The types of symmetry in my design are reflection, rotation and translation. (otation in
mathematical terminology is when you can get it to spin, or rotate, around a point. That point is called
the center of rotation.

This was probably the most challenging benchmark for a lot of people, however I didn!t find it too
difficult. *e had to get the objects to rotate and+or translate the way we wanted them to. ,y design was
quite simple with ) objects rotating and one of them translating while rotating. -ere are some of the
images I was able to screenshot while they were translating and rotating...
These images are in the order I shot them and as you might be
able to tell, the rectangle and circle are rotating and the triangle is rotating and translating at the same
time.

This benchmark was to get critique from classmates and apply two of the suggestions they gave you to
improve. I chose to add another shape and play along with the colors a bit more.
These again are in the order that I took them. The colors I feel
look far much more complimentary to each other and make the shapes pop out more. The little yellow
shape in the middle doesn!t do anything but enhance the image.
