*To help the patient (and parents) from El
Salvador through Austin Smiles, and raise
awareness about Cleft lip/palate, we have
chosen three different avenues to maximize
our project: fundraising, holding a supplies
drive, and providing information about the
defect.

*
*We will partner with one or more local
restaurants to receive a portion of the
proceeds made in a certain time. This is
a cool way to connect with local
businesses as well as advertise the
restaurant to the Austin High community
and Austin Smiles community. The
money raised will contribute to buying
essential supplies for the family,
because they came to the United States
with the bare minimum. The groceries
will include every day products like
toothbrushes as well as food items.
Austin Smiles will provide a list of
needs, which our group will buy and
deliver directly to Angelicas family.

*
*In the given two week Capstone
period, we will host a baby
necessities drive, aiming
towards gathering diapers and
formula which the family needs
the most. The drive will allow
Austin High students to donate
and get involved with the
project directly. By giving
diapers and formula, each
student will have an influence on
the family since they are in such
need of those items.

*
*Along with helping a survivor of Cleft surgery,
our project is also designed to create
awareness of the issue. Twice during the two
week window, Kendyl Richards, the founder of
Austin Smiles, will come to present information
about cleft lip locally as well as internationally.
Kendyl has a fantastic visual aid and spectrum
of knowledge and experience with the defect
which will accurately enlighten students.

*
*Our initial idea was to contact Toasties and
expressed our interest in partnering with them
to see if they were interested in sharing part of
their proceeds to help the a kid with clef and
lip palate
*Unfortunately Toasties said no due to financial
problems.

*
*We are now in the process of contacting
Schlotzkys, Chuys and P.Terrys.
*We picked these places to fundraise because
they are popular spots for Austin High students
to go and eat. It will also advertise for their
companies and will be helping those
restaurants as well.

*
Facebook:
*Spread the word to our peers/create
a group
*Promote/work with Austin Smiles
Facebook page so people can keep up
with Alexiss process and gain
information on Cleft.
Email:
*Email friends and family to inform
them of fundraisers and the project.
*Email people with Austin Smiles so
that they are aware of fundraisers
and of the project so that they may
spread the word about it.
*
KAHS:
*Have an announcement made to let
students and faculty know when
fundraisers are.
*PSA explaining our project and to
raise awareness on the issue.
Flyers:
*Create flyers to put up around the
school to inform our peer about
fundraisers and the goal of the
project.
