Did you know that those critically ill patients who are intubated for >24 hours are at 6 to 21 times at risk for
developing Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) and patients who are intubated for <24 hours are at 3 times the
risk for developing VAP? A patients LOS is increased up to 9 days with an added hospital cost of >SR41,250. VAP has
a mortality rate of 20-41% (AACN Practice Alert)
Were inviting all acute & critical care nurses to update their knowledge on VAP
