Mr. Rhodes,

For my Pride Project I plan on researching a career in psychiatry. I chose psychiatry because I
have been interested in it from a young age and when I took AP Psychology last year, I knew it
was a subject I was passionate about. My ultimate goal is to become a child and adolescent
psychiatrist so that I can help young children through difficult times.

For my Pride Paper I will include background information on the education and training required
to become a psychiatrist, outline a history of psychiatry, and discuss womens role in the career.
Most importantly, my paper will focus on adolescent and child psychiatry because that is the
specialized area I plan to go into. I will highlight the most common psychiatric diagnoses among
children and explain both common and new treatment methods for these disorders.

I have already conducted basic research on my topic. My sources include the EBSCOHost
database, the National Institute of Mental Health website, as well as many books on topics such
as the history of psychiatry and a career in psychiatry. I also plan on interviewing Peter Chien, a
psychiatrist who works for the United States government in Chicago, Illinois. I will conduct this
interview via Email since Peter Chien lives many miles away. I have yet to reach out to Mr.
Chien but plan on doing so in the near future.

For my project I will create a presentation for elementary school students to heighten their
awareness about psychological disorders in a creative way. In addition to the preliminary
research I gathered from my paper, I will work with Peter Chien to create this presentation and
brainstorm ideas about how to best present complicated information to young students. The
brainstorming, creation, and presentation of my project will easily meet the 10 hour requirement.

I will not plagiarize in any part of the Pride Project and I understand that doing so will result in a
zero regardless of whether I plagiarize intentionally or unintentionally.

Sincerely,

Madison Marcus
