Acute Ulcerative Gingivitis

A.u.g. or Vincents disease represent a complication of periodontal disease.IT is an


acute gingivitis characterized by pain and bad breath.The affected gum appears
bright red with a covering layer of grey membrane where the gum margin has
been destroyed by bacterial action like bacillus fusiformis and treponema
vincenti. It occurs mainly in areas already affected by chronis gingivitis and alsi
around erupting lower wisdom teeth.The treatment is to kill the bacteria and the
scaling. Penicilin or metronidazole are often used in form of tablets,also ten per
cent of chromic acid and hydrogen peroxide.
