The following is an assignment, that you all have to do for a maximum of 20 marks. The date
of submission is 13

October 2014 (Monday).
A. A group presentation (Maximum 8 slides) on the study of the following
a. Mt.Abu Eco. Sensitive Zone
b. Western Ghats of India as World heritage Site
c. The Taj Trapezium
The presentation must contain-
a) Introduction to the case study
b) Need and Purpose of the study
c) How different aspects - heritage (architectural, cultural, natural etc.),
environment and industries co-exist in the study area
d) Bring out the
i. Resources
ii. institutions
iii. laws
iv. policies
playing a role in conserving/protecting or mitgating the aspects discussed
above
e) Stakeholders of the conservation, protection or mitigation plans
f) How the heritage has been taken care in the case study.
B. An essay of 2000 words (Calibri 12 font size, 1.5 spacing) bringing out the salient
features of any one of the 33 town and Country Planning Acts of various States and
Union territories across India. (No two students should do the same Act). Refer to
the list of various town and country planning acts given in the URDPFI guidelines
available at the MoUD website.
