Mixed media is an art term that refers to artwork where more than one
medium has been applied. This can be applied to photography as well. Some
examples are smudging and eroding photographs through submersion in water,
creating collages, deliberately unfocus light, painting on parts of photographs with
paint, writing or painting on objects then photograph them, using a laser engraver
to etch a photograph onto glass, placing objects on photographs and retake them,
having objects coming out of the photograph, using Photoshop, taking unfocused
shots for abstract pictures, creating panoramic photography, using tilt shift to make
paintings appear real, using frames within frames, using mirrors to create illusions,
overlaying multiple photos from slightly different angles, photographing a single
scene over time and joining the pieces in sequence, and combining multiple
exposure to create repeated objects.
