Vladimir Putin

I believe that Vladimir Putin is the most influential leader of Russia. He was a very
positive person and did many great things that have truly impacted Russia for the better.
However, some of his decisions made certain people unhappy no one is perfect!

Vladimir graduated from Leningrad State University and began his career in KGB
as an intelligence officer. He held that position until 1989 and then bigger things
came to him! In the year of 1999, current Russian president Boris Yeltsin
dismissed his Prime minister. He wanted Vladimir Putin to take his place because
he saw how amazing of a person he was, and wanted Putin to bring his ideas to
the table.

December 1999, Yeltsin resigned and appointed Putin for president. This was a
huge accomplishment for Vladimir because it showed the world his importance
and greatness. Putin then became president and showed greatness to Russia for
four years. However, this wasnt enough he was too great to get rid of! Putin was
then re-elected in 2004 and continued presidency until the year of 2008.

April 2005, Putin made a historical visit to Israel. This was historical because he
was the first of the Kremlin leaders to ever make an appearance. He was given a
red carpet welcome to the country of Israel, and had separate meetings with
President Moshe Katsav and Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. They attended a
somber visit to the Holocaust memorial. The purpose of Putins visit was to allay
fears that Israels security was threatened by Russia.

On March 4, 2012 Vladimir Putin was re-elected presidency and was inaugurated
to his third term on May 7, 2012. This was a very big deal because presidents are
only given two terms in office however; Putins greatness changed that rule.
Presidency terms were changed to three terms in office.

In the summer of 2010, wildfires struck homes in Moscow Russia. This left many
families homeless and hungry, also many people died from the tragic fires.
Vladimir could not watch innocent people suffer, so he took action to help the
victims. New housing was built for the fire victims , families of those killed by the
fires were given 1 million rubles. All of the victims of the fire were built new
homes by the winter of 2010 or given money at their request.
