Rocky Mountains
The Rocky Mountains extend more than 3,000 miles from North Mexico to North West
Alaska. The Rockies are located between the Great Plains in the East, and the plateaus in the
West. The Mountains are known for it beautiful scenery filled with forests pine trees, firs, and
spruces. The climate in the Rocky Mountains is very unpredictable due to weather changing with
increasing altitude. Some adaptations some animals have made are to be surefooted and migrate
to lower and warmer levels during the winter season. The Rocky Mountains tend to have mild
summers, and cold winters with a lot of precipitation.

Eastern Himalaya Mountains

Eastern Himalaya Mountains stretch 1500 miles passing through the nations of India,
Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Bhutan and Nepal. The highest peak of the Himalayan Mountains
is Mount Everest. Climates range from tropical at the base of the mountain, to snow as it reaches
its higher elevations. Some examples of Himalayan ecology are, montane grasslands, shrub land,
coniferous forest, broad leaf and mixed forests, and tropical, and subtropical broadleaf forests.
The Himalayan Mountains are one of the youngest ranges on the planet. The eastern Himalaya
Mountains famous peaks include Karakora, Kailash, Kanchenjunga, Nanga Parbat, Annapurna,
and Manasklu.
