Coursework allows you, with the
support of me, the freedom and
scope to improve your writing
skills over a period of time.

You can choose topics of personal
interest to you, reflecting your
own lives and localities.

It allows you to consider the
quality of yourwork and to edit,
revise and correct it
independently.

You can take pride in your
completed portfolios!
Aims of coursework:

For you to become better writers
and thinkers (and in Assignment
3, better readers).

For you to express you personal
views on the world about you,
appropriate to your age and
maturity.
What is it?
You will submit a portfolio of three
assignments, each of about 500800 words.

The maximum mark for the portfolio is 50, of
which 40 marks are for Writing and 10 for
Reading (Assignment 3).

Informative, analytical and/or
argumentative
Assignment 2
Descriptive and/or narrative
Write a mystery story that creates suspense,
tension and atmosphere
Assignment 3
A response to a text or texts, of
approximately two sides of A4 in
total, chosen by BISK

Plagiarism (plagiat?)
Failing to acknowledge quotations

Using particular phrases or sentences from another author without
giving them credit via inverted commas and a footnote

Writing something that is only very slightly different (e.g. a few
words altered from another authors work (i.e. paraphrasing it)

Buying a project from an internet site and presenting it as your own

Downloading and pasting text or images from an internet site
without acknowledgement

Getting somebody else to write all or part of the work for you.
