WHEN COMPLETING YOUR HORROR POSTER MOCK UP, WHAT ASPECTS OR
PARTS DID YOU FIND WENT WELL OR YOU WERE SUCCESSFUL AT? The
aspects that I found went well or was successful is the mystical
vibe it exudes, mystery is usually incorporated into horror films in
general for example, where the supernatural threat come from,
or how things happen a certain way. Throughout the film, the
mystery unfolds and the audience discovers the answers to those
questions along with the protagonist. This keeps the audience
engaged as they are participating to the horror movie. It also
portrays the main cast and their appearance allows the audience
to deduct what role they take such as the heroine and villain I
really like the background as it is hauntingly beautiful, it gives off
the feeling that it is set in twilight, and it is dreamy yet somehow
eerie at the same time. Trees are a source of life as it gives
oxygen, and by contrasting it to the darkness, It portrays life to be
not what one expects and that it would contain a dark side.
WHEN COMPLETING YOUR HORROR POSTER MOCK UP, WHAT CHALLENGES DID
YOU FACE AND OVERCOME? The challenges I found myself facing was
on selecting appropriate characters that complements the
background I used. I wanted them to add to the surrealism within
the background, and it should be able to make one deduct that it
is of the supernatural tagline. In addition, removing the outer
extra bits of the images was quite difficult as the layering feature
in the Photoshop was a bit puzzling to me; I fiddled around and
tried my best to explore the best way to outline the characters
precisely so nothing from their body is missing. Unfortunately, the
sword that the female warrior holds is disfigured but mostly
everything is still intact, bodies & faces were fine.
WHAT NEW TOOLS ON PHOTOSHOP HAVE YOU LEARNT BY CREATING YOUR
HORROR POSTER MOCK UP? I was able to further my knowledge on
how to layer images and erase unnecessary parts in the most
detailed way possible to allow the wanted image to show well/
properly.
The Horror Poster Mock is made with the
use of multiple images searched and
selected with the keyword "Haunted",
"Horror", "Antagonist" and "Protagonist".
The title I have chosen is "Phantom's
Eventide" which defines as the Phantom's
evening. This should set the scene that it is
at nightfall where many supernatural
creatures comes and dwells upon life. The
subtitle "The apocalyptic encounter during
the witching hour" is used to tell the
audience that there is a fateful meeting...
The "witching hour" is a time of night
when supernatural creatures are believed
to be particularly active, making it a prime
time of night for witchcraft. Many people
think of midnight specifically when they
hear this term, while others more
generally associate it with the dead of
night, the dark hours when few people are
awake and about. In addition, the
association of darkness and supernatural
activity is quite ancient so it hints that
there will be historical contexts within the
story.
I wanted to achieve the hybrid theme of
fantasy and horror therefore the final
product/result of the poster exudes
supernatural horror elements yet also
create a whimsical, dreamlike vibe. It also
emits a romantic aura which is the final
touch as it can appeal to a wider range in
variety of audiences.
