Fellow US rock giants Kings Of Leon will close the festival on Sunday. Continuing the rock theme, Biffy Clyro will be opening the three day extravaganza on the Friday, before fellow Scotsman Calvin Harris takes to the stage which IOW organizer John Giddings says will drive the young people crazy. Theres something for everyone with this years Bestival headliners. From Hip-Hop behemoths Outkast (playing together for the first time in eight years) and Busta Rhymes, to EDM brothers Disclosure. And for a rockier crowd, UK indie kids Foals, and American psychedelic singer Beck. The theme of this years festival is desert island disco, and so who better to bring proceedings to a close than Chic ft. Nile Rodgers, the Sunday main stage headliners. For the oldies seeking nostalgia Boy George and Samantha Fox are both set to appear at the Big Top, as well as Britpop legends Inspiral Carpets and Suede. House music has had somewhat of a revival the last few years which is evident in the IOW lineup; Rudimental, Gorgon City, Clean Bandit, Duke Dumont and Cyril Hahn are all going to make an appearance. For the predominantly Indie crowd, there are the 1975, the Horrors and Swim Deep. Pint size pop sensation Paloma Faith will be making her second appearance at the festival on the Sunday night. While its possible for the hard-core festival goer to make it to both, for those who dont fancy maxing out their overdraft on two crazy weekends, we here at South Coast Sound investigated which is the best fest on the Island this year. Refreshments at IOW fest are all about locally produced food from the island, with treats such as: IOW Asparagus with Rew Valley butter, IOW Lamb Sheek kebab wraps with spicy Island tomato salsa, IOW hot dog made from free- range Island pork with friend onions and homemade tomato sauce, New Forest strawberries with Calbourne Classics clotted cream, Minghella Ice Cream, and Wight Crystal Spring Water. Fans of food will be spoilt for choice at Bestival; you can try some tasty local food & beer in living pub in Tomorrows Worlds, or even head down to the Butter Cupcakes Afternoon Tea Hut for cakes, jams and tea.
