Rational vs- Irrational

Objectives: Students will use Double Bubble to understand/contrast rational and irrational.

Focus/Anticipatory: Teacher will provide a bell-ringer Write a brief summary/sentence to explain the
pictures pun.

Relevancy: Teacher will supply a real world question to show relevancy in rational and irrational numbers.

Explaining/
Teacher Strategies: The teacher will introduce irrational numbers by filling out a double bubble to compare
and contrast rational and irrational numbers show their attributes and how to recognize
them.
Checking
Understanding: Students will work on Matching Number Page

Questioning
Strategies: The teacher will use a Double Bubble to show the differences between
Rational and irrational.

Guided Practice: Students will create a Venn diagram to show the relationships among;
Whole numbers, integers, rational, and irrational numbers.

Closure: The teacher will summarize the lesson by going over the vocabulary.

Independent Practice: Students will complete lesson 6-1 in their textbooks #9-12 this will be
taken up for a grade unless time is short then it will be become homework.

Materials: Eno Board, Double Bubble, Venn diagram, Textbook, Pencil, Matching Number Page,
