Year 6 Term 1 Religion Assignment - Images of Jesus

The Gospel Writers; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John have all described Jesus in
very different ways throughout the New Testament. As part of creating your
own clearer understanding of Jesus including his teachings and actions, it is
important that you are able to identify the many different images used to
portray him.

Task:
In groups of five, students are to individually choose an account from one of
the gospel writers. You will then need to present those five different gospel
accounts to the class by using freeze frames. Each student will be responsible
for directing the frozen image, announcing the title and reference, and
explaining what the image says about who Jesus is.

Checklist:
o Form a group of five students.

o Choose a gospel writer (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) to focus on as a
group.

o Each group member must find a gospel account from the Bible that
presents / tells / describes an image of Jesus.

o Each individual needs to plan their own freeze frame based on their
chosen gospel account.

o That person must then elaborate on their freeze frame to the class while
it is being performed. This includes announcing the title and reference
from the Bible and most importantly; explaining what the image says
about who Jesus is.
