The authorizations for executing a client copy are listed in Note 24853.

This is not possible. Note 19574 contains information about the relationship between
cl i ent - speci f i c Cust omi zi ng, cr oss- cl i ent Cust omi zi ng and t he cor r espondi ng appl i cat i on dat a.
A further problem, for which there is no solution, is the existence of mixed number
r anges. For i nst ance, bot h Cust omi zi ng and appl i cat i on addr esses appear i n t he cent r al addr ess
management .

Notes 19574 and 24853 provide basic information on this subject. The main or Basis
r el ease must al ways be i dent i cal . Suppor t Packages and ADD- ONS shoul d al so have t he same st at us i n

For instance, if an add- on i s onl y i nst al l ed i n t he sour ce syst em, t he r emot e copy

Prior to Release 4. 6, there are no differences concerning the runtime. The advantage
of a cl i ent t r anspor t i s t hat t he sour ce cl i ent i s avai l abl e agai n f or user s r el at i vel y soon af t er
t he expor t of t he dat a, whi l e wi t h t he r emot e copy, you ar e onl y al l owed t o wor k i n t he sour ce
cl i ent when t he copy has been compl et ed.
In addition, during the client transport you have a 'frozen' dataset of the client
t hat can no l onger be changed, and whi ch you can access or r est ar t r epeat edl y dur i ng t he i mpor t .
Prior to Release WAS 6. 10, a client transport is more error- t ol er ant wher e t her e ar e

With parallel processes from Release 4. 6, the remote copy is faster than a client

t i me of a cl i ent t r anspor t . However , a LAN l i nk i s r equi r ed f or t hi s. Wi t h a r emot e copy vi a a WAN,
you must check ver y cr i t i cal l y whet her t he l i nk does not sl ow down t he copy t oo much.

The DDIC (data dictionary) belongs to the repository of the system (programs, system
var i abl es et c. ) . For a cl i ent copy, a r eposi t or y i s usual l y demanded on t he same devel opment l evel .
A remote copy terminates if not all data could be copied, so for instance if a field
i s mi ssi ng i n t he t ar get syst em, a f i el d i s t oo smal l or an ent i r e t abl e i s mi ssi ng. See Not e 557132

The functional scope of the tools of the client copy is explained in Note 24853. A

Client 001 is created as a practice client or a reference client during the initial
i nst al l at i on of a syst em. Apar t f r omt hi s, i t i s no di f f er ent t o ot her cl i ent s. Ther ef or e, i t i s
deal t wi t h i n t he same way as ever y ot her cust omer cl i ent .
The Solution Manager up to Version 3. 2 is an exception. In this case, client 000 does
not have Cust omi zi ng f or set t i ng up t he ser vi ce desk. You t hen have t o use cl i ent 001 as a copy
t empl at e. The er r or i s cor r ect ed wi t h Sol ut i on Manager 4. 0.
Another exception is NetWeaver as of Version 2004S. With a new installation, a client
001 i s cr eat ed t o pr ovi de st or age f or t he J ava user s. I f necessar y, you can copy t he user s f r om
cl i ent 001 wi t h a cl i ent copy. However , we st i l l ur gent l y r ecommend t hat you use cl i ent 000 as a
copy t empl at e f or Cust omi zi ng. Thi s appl i es especi al l y t o al l pr oduct s t hat r un on Net Weaver ( such

Yes. (Except for the Solution Manager before Version 4.0. If necessary, you must first
copy t he J ava user s. Ref er t o t he pr evi ous poi nt i n t hi s case. )
17. Can I use cl i ent 001 i n pr oduct i on?
To set up a new client, a Customizing copy from client 000 is recommended. On the one
hand, a cust omer cl i ent shoul d be set up wi t hout any ot her appl i cat i on dat a, on t he ot her hand,
cl i ent 001 becomes not i ceabl y mor e obsol et e wi t h ever y Suppor t Package and wi t h ever y l anguage
i nst al l at i on. See Not e 550894 f or f ur t her i nf or mat i on.
However, if you have already used client 001 for production, there is no reason not to
r et ai n t hi s cl i ent .
