CCSD Human Resources:
I am a recent graduate of Nevada State College with a BA in Secondary Education with
an Emphasis in English and a BA in English. It is my wish to be an English teacher in the Clark
County School District. My passion for teaching enables me to help my students excel in their
academic and career goals. Making sure the students are prepared for success when they
graduate high school is a objective I wish to accomplish with this school district.
Participating in PLCs with other ninth grade English teachers at Basic High School
helped me improve my effectiveness as a teacher. Together we worked to develop and refine
lessons that would help our students successfully learn the skills and material. During student
teaching, I also assisted my cooperating teacher in editing the Basic High School yearbook. I am
dedicated to improving not only the reading comprehension and analytical skills of the students
but their ability to effectively communicate those skills.
I have excelled academically, graduating Summa Cum Laude, but I understand the
importance of practical application. To supplement my pedagogical learning in the college
classroom, I took part in an internship program called ARRIVE where I assisted a cooperating
teacher and tutored students in large and small groups. This experience solidified my desire to be
a secondary English teacher and apply the strategies from my college classes in a real-world
setting. In addition to working in a traditional school environment, I have taught school age
children in the capacity of summer camp counselor, summer camp site leader, and dance
instructor.
