To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter of recommendation to you for Mr. Thomas Reyes. Over the
past several months, I helped him further develop his art portfolio. To paraphrase
a quote from Picasso Sculpture is the best comment a painter can make about
painting. While Thomas can draw, his strength is in sculpture, specifically clay.
Clay is one of the most versatile media available, and Thomas has a talent for
transitioning his two-dimensional ideas into three-dimensional forms.
Based on my experience, he is exceptionally hungry to learn more, and it is
clear to me that he has potential in the creative arts.

Thomas is mature for his age and approaches art with an astute sense of
objectivity. He processes constructive criticism well, but will remain true to his
original ideas. His background experiences have taught him to go the extra mile
in order to take his message to the highest level of formal and conceptual
refinement. As part of a culture that embraces graffiti, Thomas chooses to
develop concepts thoughtfully, create interesting exploratory sketches, and
thinks before he commits himself, with confidence, to the end process. Therein,
he creates painting, drawings and sculptures that are cohesive and eloquent in
their communication of sophisticated concepts. Over all, Thomas seems to be a
well-rounded art student who has found a way to balance all aspects of the
creative process with apparent ease.

It is with the utmost confidence that I recommend working with Thomas. His
relaxed, informal attitude and creativity could be a welcome addition to any
program. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
