In the reading Blue-Collar Brilliance Author are telling us how simple his family were as middle

class people working hard and doing well in their jobs even though they were poorly educated.
Even in the readings you can see in the photos from Mike Ross that his uncle Joe and his
mother Rosie do multitasking in their jobs. His uncle always looked for problems in the paint
department he was working and tried to fix them. His mother handled 4-5 tables, where she
had 5-6 people at every table and managed food and drink orders for all.

From the reading Mother Tongue I can relate to my mother who is a regular housewife. I can
face the same situations or problems in my future as Amy Tan did with her mother, dealing with
her limited English. Right now my mom is in India, where she doesn't speak English in her day
to day life and it will be hard for her to speak English when she comes to Canada to live with me
(if she will agree to come).

In both readings the writers are talking about their mothers, how they saw them in their
childhood, and what kind of difficulty their mothers had while working or taking care of their
families.
