Thank you for your purchase of a STAAD Foundation Advanced V8i license!
This new product is built upon the previous STAAD.foundation program but
includes powerful new features and an improved user interface. The name
change represents the extended feature set available in the program in
comparison to the limited foundation design capabilities which are available
with a license of STAAD.Pro V8i.
Whether you are new to STAAD Foundation Advanced or have used
STAAD.foundation in the past, then we suggest you spend some time reading
this document and trying some of the examples in order to familiarize yourself
with the program. Even if you've used previous versions STAAD.foundation
before, we feel that you'll benefit from learning the new user interface.
The following list provides describes new features for users of STAAD
Foundation Advanced (the previous version of this product).

1.1 Creating ISM Repositories
You can now create Integrated Structural Modeling (ISM) repositories from an
even greater number of STAAD Foundation model types. In addition to
Combined and Isolated footings, you can now export the following types of
foundation to ISM:
l Pile Cap (All codes)
l Octagonal
l Strap
1.2 Update Repository Enhancements
Now in update repository, we have provided a model filter to filter out
unnecessary objects from the model.
1.3 To create a STAAD Foundation Advanced model from an
ISMRepository
You can now import any superstructure ISM repository into STAAD
Foundation Advanced using the New from Repository tool. For reading and
updating a repository, a model filter is provided that simplifies the ISM
repositorys ISM model into a subset that is appropriate for STAAD
Foundation Advanced, filtering out those objects which are not needed in the
application depending upon the action (whether reading repository or updating
repository).
To read model data from a repository to create a new STAAD Foundation
Advanced model:
1. Click the STAAD Foundation Advanced Application button and select
General Mode.
2. Click the STAAD Foundation Advanced Application button and select
Sync ISM > New from Repository from the application menu.
The Open Repository dialog opens.
3. Select an existing ISM repository (file extension .ism.dgn) and click
Open.
The program reads all the supports and the support reactions from the
ISM repository and creates a new model.

STAAD Foundation Advanced now supports ACI 318 - 2008 and 2011. Now
when creating a job, you have the option of choosing the design code version
for US code.
Once designed, the calculation sheet will reflect the selected code.

3 Enhanced Detail Drawing
3 Enhanced Detail Drawing
The following enhancements have been added to construction-ready detail
drawings produced by STAAD Foundation Advanced.
3.1 Combined Footing
The detail drawing for combined footing has been greatly improved. The
enhanced drawing is now construction-ready:

l Sheet Management
l True scale reinforcement along with thickness for congestion detection
l Anchor bolt overlay on pedestal reinforcement

This feature has been implemented for isolated footings for all codes.
3.2 Heat Exchanger Footing
The detail drawings for heat exchanger footings have been greatly improved.

4 Updated Detail Drawing Options
With the enhanced detail and schedule drawing options, you can enter
appropriate inputs to be viewed in detailed drawings.

Stirrup arrangement can be modified clicking Change Stirrup
Arrangements and edit the table to accommodate multiple pedestals in
combined footing.

Drawing
General Arrangement drawings are available for mat foundations. Foundation
overlaps can be visually detected from the GA drawing.

A sliding check has been implemented for combined footing, for all codes.
Select the Design Parameters for the job in the Main Navigator to set the
Factor of safety against sliding has been added to accommodate sliding
factor of safety.

You now have an option to choose the direction of the bottom layer of
reinforcement. Based on reinforcement bottom direction, the effective depth
calculation will change

8 Aspect Ratio for Isolated Footings
8 Aspect Ratio for Isolated Footings
Now, isolated foundations can have same aspect ratio as that of column
support they are supporting.
By entering 0 in the Length/Width Ratio field, the isolated footing aspect
ratio will be set to the column length/width ratio.

9 Combined Footing Optimization
9 Combined Footing Optimization
A combined footing will be sized based on loading applied on top of the
footing. When the Optimize Footing Size option is selected as No, the
footing dimensions will be increased in both directions which can lead to an
oversized footing. When the Optimize Footing Size option is selected as
Yes, the footing size will increase only in direction where loads (shear
force/moments) are applied.
