changed?
I think that Stanleys letters home are the most important
object of the book because they truly demonstrate Stanleys caring
nature and innocence. Additionally, they demonstrate his creativity.

The letters in some ways help Zero and Stanley develop a friendship
because they first begin while Stanley is attempting to write to his
mom. If Stanley had never written letters home, Zero would never have
asked him to help him learn to read. If Stanley had not tried to teach
Zero how to read, Stanley would have never have discovered how truly
intelligent and complex Zero was. They would probably not have
developed a close friendship, and Stanley would have never chased
after Zero into the desert. Stanley would have never cared Zero up the
mountain, and the curse would never have been reversed! As you can
see, without Stanleys letters home, the treasure would never have
been discovered.
