Greetings Graduate LD Students,

The Learning Disabilities program has undergone a revision which has been approved by Northern
Michigan University and the Michigan Department of Education. The changes to the program have
resulted in several courses from the old program no longer being offered while others will be replaced
by new courses beginning in the fall 2014 semester. The overall credit requirement for graduate
students has been reduced.

Please carefully review the information found at: http://learningdisabilityprogramnmu.weebly.com/ .
The documents provided here include a LD Program Comparison Chartwhich outlines course
equivalencies aligning the previous and new programs, the New LD Plan of Study with Course
Equivalencies, the MAE LD Program Chart, and MAE in LD Plan of Study Template. Should you have any
questions, you may contact me or Nancy Carterat ncarter@nmu.edu or (906) 227-1625in the School
of Education, Leadership, & Public Service.

You have the option of staying with the bulletin that was in place when you were admitted to the
programmeaning you would follow your initial plan of study with course equivalencies from the new
programor move to the new bulletin, which for most of you will require the completion of less credits.
Please contact LuAnne Crupi ( lcrupi@nmu.edu ) in the School of Graduate Education and Research via
email and indicate your intention to remain in your current bulletin or move to the new bulletin, if
you have not already done so.

Sincerely,

Abby Cameron-Standerford, Ed.D.
