A written cover line is used on this poster

to draw the audience to the film. Based

on the true case files of the Warrens is a
sinister approach to attracting the
audience. It leaves the film in suspense
and leaves the audience wanting more.
The typography of the serif font adds to
the atmosphere as it increases the
verisimilitude and makes it more horror.
The main cover line is the most important
aspect of the poster. It is the first thing the
audience see and it is obviously the name of
the film which is highly important. This
specific headline is in serif font and is quite
bold. I dont think it is the most appealing
headline but I think that this adds to the
horror. It is meant to be plain as a horror is
very simple and eerie.
The overall colour scheme of the poster is low key
and dark. It has little colour range which connotes
the horror and the mysterious and dark story
behind it. The grey and black connotes the scary
and horrible ideas of the film. Although the poster
is very plain and does not contain any character
names or producer companies, it is very capturing
as the image in the centre draws automatic
attention. The dark colours represent the dark
secret in the film. It is a very simple but clever
poster as it helps add to the atmosphere of a
horror.
The image is also the most important thing
of the poster. The audience will see this
image as well as the masthead first. The
image on a poster symbolises and shows
the film in a new way. We know nothing
about the film from this poster but we can
automatically tell that it is a horror by the
image. The mise en scene used in this
poster through setting and costume help
symbolise the genre and the horror story.
Half of the image is blacked out with the
small doll staring directly at the camera.
The NVC of the doll is very scary but draws
attention from the title and sublines. It is a
long shot and does not show any facial
expressions connoting that there is a secret
and the face is not pleasant.
The poster includes small titles
and references to the producers
and distributors. It is common in
horror posters that the
typography and the references
are very simple and small as the
whole idea of the poster is that
the audience understand the
genre of the film. If there is a lot
of cover lines, the idea of the
horror is taken away and the
audience are more focused on
the credits and not the actual film
