The Assassination of John F. Kennedy
John Fitzgerald President was the 35
th
president of the United States. He was
assassinated on Friday, November 22
nd
, 1963 in Dealey Plaza, Dallas, Texas. Kennedy was fatally
shot by a sniper while in a vehicle with his wife Jacqueline Kennedy, Texas Governor John
Connally, and the governors wife. A ten-month investigation concluded that President Kennedy
was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald, single handedly. Shortly after, Lee Harvey Oswald was
gunned down by Jack Ruby before Oswald could stand trial. The attack was a sniper style attack
that occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. Governor Connally and an innocent bystander. The
same bullet went through Kennedy and Conally. Oswald sniped them from the sixth floor of the
Texas School Book Depository. Mrs. Kennedy climbed to the back of the car, perhaps trying to
get a piece of the presidents skull, she claims to have no memory of doing this. President
Kennedy was declared dead in the Emergency room and Lyndon B. Johnson was sworn in as
president. This was a tragic day in American history, as the nation heard one of the nations
best president announced dead. The news came as a huge shock for the nation as it was during
the Cold War and people thought it could possibly be an attack concerning the Cold War. The
artifact which is the bullet, represents the bullet that assassinated President Kennedy.
