marked the last day for the Summer VISTA Associate team. This team, composed entirely
of volunteers who all just happened to have A names (Ann, Anh, Abbi, Ada, Ashley, and Austin) spent
nine weeks over the summer as full time volunteers for Reading Corps. The A Team was instrumental in
providing the best possible experience for children participating in the summer Reading Corps program,
bringing passion and enthusiasm with them to over eight different sites and dozens of different children.
When the Summer VISTAs werent busy with Reading Corps, they were helping with the Summer
Reading Club, helping library staff prepare for events, and helping knock out a backlog of Literacy House
improvements. The summer VISTAs are bound for many different places having completed their service,
including the Peace Corps, the first year of college, finishing a masters degree, and even yearlong VISTA
programs. The library staff and the year-round VISTA team will miss the energy and willingness to jump
in and help that the summer VISTA team brought with them daily.
