and the E%$. Terry Fox &as an aspiring $anadian athlete &ho
lost his right leg to cancer at the age of "'. (erco!e by the
su)ering of other cancer patients* he decided to run across
$anada to raise !oney for cancer research. +is !arathon of
hope lasted ",# days* before the cancer returned and
oerca!e hi!. -nnually* Terrys drea! to .nd a cure for
cancer is celebrated in /0 countries* and !oney is raised in
the na!e of cancer research1 all !onies raised by TES &ill be
gien to the National Research $ouncil of Tai&an.
2our child has attended an asse!bly today to introduce the
eent* and on 3onday /4 (ctober* your child &ill bring ho!e
a pledge sheet &hereby they can collect sponsorship. The run
is a non5co!petitie 0k! eent* but the younger children &ill
si!ply en6oy the spirit of participation and co!plete as !uch
as &e can during our ti!e on the .eld. 2our child &ill need to
&ear their tribe shirt* %E shorts* and %E shoes on the day.
They &ill re7uire a hat* and in the case of light rain* a
&aterproof 6acket. 3oney and pledge for!s can be returned
as and &hen sponsorship is collected. 8e courageous and ask
neighbours* friends* and fa!ily for pledges. Eery penny helps
