Dear Parent or Guardian,

On Monday, October 27, 2014, all eighth graders at Barber Middle School be taking
the eadiSte! assess"ent, a test that "easures reading, #riting and "ath skills
students learn in school$ %our child does not need to do any s!ecial !re!aration &or
eadiSte!$ 'o#e(er, it is i"!ortant to eat a good break&ast and co"e to school
&ocused on test day$
eadiSte! #ill hel! your child gain early insight into the skills he or she #ill need &or
success in high school and college$ eadiSte! "easures the sa"e ty!es o& skills
that are "easured by the PS)*+,MS-*. and S)*., tests students take in high
school as they !rogress to#ard college$
Students !artici!ating in eadiSte! #ill recei(e a score re!ort that sho#s ho# they
!er&or"ed on each test section and each /uestion$ )dditionally, they0ll be able to
see ho# their scores co"!ared to those o& other students across the country$
%our child0s eadiSte! results #ill be shared #ith teachers and ad"inistrators in our
school district, but they #ill not be shared #ith colleges or other organi1ations$ *he
results #ill be used to hel! us better understand students0 strengths and
#eaknesses so #e can hel! the" i"!ro(e areas that need additional #ork as they
"ake the transition to high school$

Myoad and other &ree resources can hel! students start thinking about the &uture
and the e4citing o!!ortunities that lie ahead in high school, college, and beyond$
