NASA Distance Learning Reflection
October 24, 2014

This assignment was a lesson given by a scientist at NASA to our classroom in
Steubenville. The lesson was done completely through video conferencing and video chat. This
technology allows students all over the world to connect with NASA and learn straight from a
NASA scientist. It is helpful because lessons such as these can help inspire children to try new
things. Students can be involved in the lesson and taught by an actual NASA scientist. This
experience can be helpful and exciting for both teachers and students. It is a break from simply
having a teacher teaching in front of the class. Students get an opportunity to interact with a real
NASA scientist and learn lots of new and exciting information. This experience will help
students to get excited about learning.

I did this assignment with all of the other members of my class. We were all sitting and
on video chat with a NASA scientist. We all interacted, answered, and asked questions. This
assignment is very helpful for my future as a teacher. I am planning to be a high school science
teacher, so this program is especially helpful for me. I can use this program to get my students
more interested in the subjects they are learning. This program would be especially helpful after
a unit about space and planets. It would be an exciting, interactive experience for my future
students.
