Atrium Court building

History and general information:



An 33000m2 office development based on the shell of the old Post office building which
surrounds an internal atrium.

Reconstructed by Covell Matthews architects
Materials


The entire old Post office building is
made of stone


The internal atrium is made of steel
supported on the steel made frame


Entrances


There are three entrances at the
front long side of the building but
only the center one is used


There is a small entrance on the right
side of the building and a big one on
the left
Openings


The windows separate the volumes
of the building and create the illusion
the height on the corner volumes
and the illusion of the stability on the
main one.


Decoration


The external decoration of the
building consists of two different
styles.
A more simple style is used on the
ground floor and a more luxuriant for
the upper floors

Surrounding environment


A mixture of architecture concerning the
time and the style where modern coexists
with the old is a main characteristic of the
street.
