I Spy Game

By: Darlene Jackson

The ISTE Standard which I will be using during my presentation is
Creativity and Innovation (www.istestandards.org/docs/pdfs/20-
14_ISTEStandards-S_PDF.pdf).
The content standard that is of focus is critical thinking and
problem solving.

Colors
Students are asked to
use the magnifying
glass to point out items
in the class that are red,
blue, yellow, green,
purple, black, orange,
white, gray, pink,
brown.

Students are to identify
the object by color and
say what the object is
and specify what the
object is used for and
with inside the
classroom.

Shapes
Students are to get up
and point out the shape
which was called out.
Next the student can try
to draw the shape using
drawing paper and big
red pencils or big
crayons.
The object of
identifying the shapes is
knowing the different
shapes within a childs
environment. After a
shape has been
identified the spy glass
goes to the next child.
Numbers
Each student counts
different objects in a
specified area of the
room. The object is
identified and traced.
Each child is to count
the object and tell how
many of the objects are
seen.
As a second part to this
activity the child can
name and trace the
number they see on
paper.
Language
In this part of the game the student is to name
an object pointed to in an designated area of
the room. After the item is named the student is
to sound out the beginning letter of the object.
As a second part to this activity, the student can
take a visual aide letter card and put it next to
the beginning letter of the object.
Art
Each student is to go and pick out their
favorite art material to work with. Then they
can identify the item.
Next the student is to make a
Creative scene using various
art materials.
Then each student can take turns guessing what
the picture is about.
Science
In this part of the activity students are to
identify the item called out. Next they are to
identify where you find the item/animal,
where it lives, and the sounds it makes.
Students can also tell whether it is big or small
in size. Additionally whether this living or non-
living.
Block Building
Students are to go into the block area and
identify the block-(whether it is
Lego/Styrofoam/Wooden Blocks).
Then the students are to build
a creation and count the number
of blocks used.
Next it is up to the peers to guess the creation
built.
