Beautiful weather!
Procedures
Before heading outside, explain the lesson to students. First, I will pair
each student with a partner of the opposite gender (male/female) (if
possible). This lesson will be taught outside because acting out verbs is
more efficient than writing them (Verbs, its what you do!)
When we head outside, I will have a computer where I am recording each
action verb that I say.
Each pair of students will spread out in the grass, far enough away from
each other that they will bot bump into one another.
I will shout out a verb phrase. For example, she went walking.
After I say the phrase, ONE group of students must raise their hands
(whoever is first) will get picked and tell me if the phrase in past, present,
or future tense.
When we identify the tense, ALL groups will perform but only the gender
that is called out will perform in each group.
If I say, They went walking, both students must perform the action.
After everyone performs the action we will move onto the next phrase.
If students would like to recommend a phrase for the class, they may do so
with permission from me.
The lesson ends when every verb phrase is well known for each student.
Accommodations: For students who are unable to participate, I will pre-make photos that
they must hold up in the picture and tell me what tense it is in.

ISTE-T Standard: 1A- promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and
inventiveness.

Reflect: when the activity is finished, the class will discuss the difficulties of choosing
tenses and explain how they identified each verb.
