Adjectives Outdoors!

Objectives of Lesson:
The students will be able to
o Identify and describe what an adjective is
o Use knowledge of adjectives to find specific objects in nature

Materials:
Computer
Projector
Introduction PowerPoint with directions for the activity outside and review of
adjectives
A list of 10 adjectives for the students to go on their scavenger hunt
Plastic grocery bag for each student

Design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and
resources to promote student learning and creativity
Planning done before lesson:
Type or write out a list of 10 adjectives for each student (sample list attached)
Create a PowerPoint that includes directions for the activity and review of what
adjectives are
Have the document of adjectives you chose ready for students to come up and
type what they have found for each adjective
Presentation
Begin class by explaining outside activity!
o Students will be going outside to search for objects in nature with the
specific adjective given. They will need to have collected 10 different
items to bring back into the classroom in their bags.
Review adjectives definition, examples, questions?!
Lead students outside and begin scavenger hunt

Review/Assessment
Once all of the students have found their 10 objects, we will go back inside to
wrap up and review
Bring the Word document up onto the projector so students can see the list of
adjectives on the screen
Go through the list and have 3 students come up for each word and type the object
they found
o Its OK if there are repeats
After writing all three objects for each adjective, review HOW those objects
represent that adjective ask volunteers to explain or call on students
