THEME: ENDING ENDURING HUMAN SUFFERING JESUIT UNIVERSITIES HUMANITARIAN ACTION NETWORK (JUHAN) CALL FOR PAPERS The Program Committee of the 2015 JUHAN Conference is requesting papers that address the question of Ending Enduring Human Sufering. We are calling for papers that ofer original research, policy analysis, or promising programmatic interventions to reduce human sufering. Papers from students are especially welcome. Students are also invited to submit proposals for advocacy panels. These panels will feature presentations of campus and community work on issues related to humanitarianism and social justice, and will provide an opportunity for networking and sharing of best practices. Students presenting on advocacy panels will not be required to submit a paper. The deadline for submission of an abstract is Saturday, February 28, 2015. All abstracts must be submitted to the program chair, Richard Clark, Ph.D., at rclark@jcu.edu and should be no more than 250 words in length. Applicants will be notied of acceptance by Wednesday, April 1, 2015. Completed papers/presentations are due to the panel moderator by Friday, May 22, 2015. JUHAN was created to increase the efectiveness of eforts by Jesuit universities to respond to humanitarian crises in the United States and throughout the world. The principal focus of JUHAN is undergraduate education that seeks to advance the realm of humanitarian study and the professional eld of humanitarian action. JUHAN hopes to expose students to these areas through academic courses, student leadership workshops, and notable plenary speakers in the spheres of social justice and international human rights.
