Our Week In Review
We had a good week back from Chulalongkorn Break but have been
busy preparing for our assemblies. Thank you to all of the parents who
came out today to support us. We hope to see many of you again next
Friday at 8:15am when we present our learning in the Fine Arts Center.
We have started exploring patterning and non-standard measurement in
math.
Measuring: If your child is curious about measuring around the house, en-
courage them to compare items and describe them using bigger, taller,
smaller, or shorter than. They can also compare items by measuring them
with their shoes (ex: the bedroom is ___ shoe lengths but the bathroom
is only ___ shoe lengths). Comparing weight of cereal boxes, volume of
glasses, or anything else along those lines will be a great support to our
in-class learning as well.
Patterning: We have started to notice that we can identify color, shape,
size and even movement patterns all around us. Encourage your child to
look for patterns of foor tiles, wallpaper, and clothing wherever you go.
As part of our Social and Emotional Health unit, we are looking closely
at our Elementary School Expectations: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Re-
sponsible. We have a strong grasp on safety and respect and will contin-
ue to work on understanding responsible next week. As part of our effort
to understand the concept of responsibility, we have instituted a Class-
room Helpers program. Your child will be taking on small jobs around the
classroom such as watering the plants, wiping the tables before snack or
spending a few minutes sharpening the colored pencils.
