Corn continues to be an important part of diet along with
chocolate, tomatoes, beans, squash, and Chile
Spanish brought over beef, chicken, cheese, and olive
oil----out of these came the invention of the tortilla

Celebrations:
Fiestas held throughout the year. These include parades,
fireworks, music, and dancing
Mariachi bands are a usual part of fiestas

Cinco de Mayo (May 5)
This marks the day when the Mexican
rebels defeated the invading French Army in
battle in 1862
