Resume Reflection

It is twelve in the morning. Nothing but a dim lit lab, with swinging overhead lamp remains in
the picture. A chair, sits lazily to its side next to a scattering of papers all over the floor. There he stands,
a test in his right hand and a cup of coffee in his left. The table he is standing next to is cluttered with
test tubes, beakers and all sorts of paraphernalia needed for the experiment. He observes the sample
intently and determines that it is no good. The experiment must be scrapped, he says with a
frustrated scowl. He sits back down, exhausted, defeated, and disgruntled. The job must be done, he
says. The man gets up and begins recording in his notebook: Experiment failed reason: substance
impure. The man continues his work late into the night realizing it is going to take more than one cup of
coffee to get him through his endeavor. It is 6:30 A.M. the man walks out of the lab with an almost
euphoric sense of satisfaction. He has synthesized a drug that will save the lives of many. This man is
me.
