The College was established in the year 1997 by the Rajalakshmi Educational trust, headed by Mr.S.Meganathan, a Mechanical Engineer by profession and a
successful Industrialist, ably assisted by Dr. Mrs. Thangam Meganathan, an Educationist and an expert Career guidance advisor. The Institution is located at Thandalam on
the National Highway (NH-4) between Chennai and Bangalore. The College offers 11 U.G.Programmes, 10 P.G.Programmes and 8 Research Programmes. REC is
approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University. It is an ISO 9001: 2008 certified Institution by TUV Nord, and also accredited by National Assessment and
Accreditation Council.

ABOUT DEPARTMENT
The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 1999. Presently, the department offers B.E. (Electrical and Electronics
Engineering), M.E. (Power Electronics and Drives) and M.E. (Embedded Systems) programs. It has also been recognized as a research centre by Anna University,
Chennai, for offering Ph.D. programs and M.S (by Research) degrees. A number of candidates are undergoing Ph.D. Programme in the area of Power Electronics and drives,
Power systems and special machines. The department has also been reaccredited by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi. The department has full-fledged
faculty members who are dedicated and well experienced in different fields of specialization and it is fully equipped with latest systems and
apparatus in the Electrical machines, Power Electronics, Control Systems, Power System Simulation, Measurements and Instrumentation laboratories. The mission of the
department is to produce highly competent Electrical and Electronics Engineers with a sound knowledge in all the areas concerning the discipline.
ABOUT CONFERENCE
An International Conference on Power Electronics and Renewable Energy Systems (ICPERES2014) is being organized at Rajalakshmi Engineering College,
Chennai, India, during April 24-26, 2014, in association with Springer and IEEE Madras section. In the last three decades considerable developments have taken place in the
design and operation of Renewable energy systems. There is also an increase emphasis on maintaining power quality. The objective of the Conference is to provide a
platform for academicians, researchers and practicing engineers to present their research findings and developmental activities in the broad area of Power Electronics and
Renewable Energy. All selected papers will be published in the conference proceedings by LNEE series of SPRINGER. Extended papers will be submitted for subsequent
publication in the special issues of reputed international journals and few of the book series in Springer.
