    A matching poem to Summer. Symbolically, it is very similar, contrasting the negative aspects of a dry, frosty winter (and the associated vegetation death) with the safety this yields in the spring heat. Again, the symbolic nucleus was pre-thought and this time the poem followed it quite closely. Winter Mk 2 changes the final 'Fires' to 'Heat' which is intentional (I unfortunately uploaded the file before fixing this!)

    Winter

    1 Cold
    2 Winter
    3 The frost comes
    4 And slays the grass.
    5 No rain is coming,
    6 The sky is clear and there
    7 Is no relief. And yet with
    6 No rain comes some respite:
    5 Without the mid-year
    4 Growing, all would
    3 Be lost in
    2 The spring
    1 Fires.

    Though the winter brings less rain and frost, it is a pleasant season and these constraints are
    required to preserve balance.
