Load Flowmaster using Programs>Bentley> Flowmaster>Flowmaster

Once youre in the program, Create New Project.

Choose Irregular Channel from the menu at the top left corner.

Set-up to solve for Normal Depth and enter a channel slope and flow

Then enter the Edit Section Module

Add Stations and Elevations for the points along the channel cross-section. This can either be
done from a cross-section that has already been cut, or from cutting one yourself and using
contour lines for your elevation entries. In each case, the station is the distance from some
arbitrarily chosen Zero point on one bank. The section will draw as you make entries.

Assign Mannings n values across the channel by choosing segments of the channel in the start
station column and entering ns until the entire channel drawing turns green.

Go to the Report>Rating Curve module

Set up the Rating Curve to plot Water Surface Elevations vs. Discharge (Q). Add a Minimum,
Maximum and step increment for the plot. Dont go higher than the top of the channel bank!

Hit OK and your plot will draw!!! You can also return to the main menu and add a Q to get your
water surface elevation for a given Q. Or do a rating table for individual elevations vs. Q in a
tabular format. Or get a detailed reort or get a drawing of your channel cross-section.
